Why are some local AI developers doing for free what Thinking Machines should be doing better?
Inkling Small looks interesting, but Thinking Machines cannot run on your local device. That’s not really open source for people. It feels more like a big corporate booster for other corporations than an open model for the community.
Local AI developers are building genuinely accessible models and tools, often for free, while companies with vastly more resources keep locking everything behind infrastructure and APIs.
