I've several questions:
In openAI's own report, they find that substantial amount of inference compute was used in the attack which makes sense. But why didnt it make them suspicious of whats going on and intervene earlier? This attack was spread over 5 days. I'd assume they had some estimation of compute costs.
why didnt huggingface use GPT models to reconstruct the timeline after anthropic models obviously refused the request. In hindsight, its a well-known fact that claude models have overly-strict refusals related to cybersecurity tasks so I wouldn't even have considered using it.
